SG Rao’s Military Hotel
A Legacy Served since 1908.
In 1908, we began serving Bangalore’s first biryani in Akkipet in the brand name “ Sri Govinda Rao Military Hotel.
A taste even the British soldiers couldn’t resist.
Our biryani became a legend among soldiers.
A recipe carried back in their memories.
Later days Pailwans found strength in our biryani and traditional non veg dishes.
Their power meal for decades.
Since the 1980s, Bangalore wakes up to our early morning biryani.
A morning ritual for food lovers.
In 2018, we moved to Cottonpet.
A new home, the same iconic taste. Renamed as “SG Rao’s Military Hotel.
Now in March 2025, we bring our legacy to Rajajinagar.
A bigger space, a richer tradition.
